Position: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Swanley, Kent
Role Summary:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the financial management and cost control of our construction projects.
Your responsibilities will involve estimating project costs, managing budgets, and ensuring the financial success of our construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimating – Conducting detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and other relevant factors.
Budget Management – Assist in the development and management of project budgets, ensuring financial parameters align with the project goals.
Contract Administration –Administer construction contracts, which will include reviewing and negotiating terms, managing variations, and assessing and certifying payments.
Cost Control – Implementing effective cost control measures to optimise the financial performance of each project.
Risk Management – Identify and assess potential financial risks relating to project costs and the implementation of strategies and processes to mitigate and manage those risks.
Change Order Management – Manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to contractual obligations.
Stakeholder Collaboration –Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and resolution of financial matters.
Client Liaison – Work with clients on the financial aspects of a project, addressing queries, providing updates, and ensuring overall client satisfaction.
Documentation Management – Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and financial records.
Performance reporting –Provide regular reports to our Senior QS on project financial performance, and highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for review.
Quality Assurance – Implement and maintain quality assurance processes within the Quantity Surveying function to uphold the highest standards of service delivery.
Health and Safety Compliance – Ensure that Quantity Surveying activities align with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
Training and Development –Collaborate with our Senior QS to identify training needs and facilitate professional development opportunities for the Quantity Surveying team.
Essential Criteria:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction sector.
- Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Strong understanding of construction project management principles and cost control.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of service delivery.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Criteria:
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications or certifications.
- Previous experience working with a geographically dispersed team.
- Familiarity with industry-specific considerations such as safety protocols and regulatory ompliance.
- Knowledge of project management software and tools.
- Experience in implementing and optimising cost control measures in construction projects.
